Breakthrough Breast Cancer fraudulent clothing collection

19th August 2010

The charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer is warning people that fraudulent leaflets are being distributed, requesting donations of clothes and household goods to raise money for the charity.

A number of residents have reported that they have received leaflets from Clothman Ltd that claim a donation of £100 will be made to Breakthrough Breast Cancer for every tonne of clothes collected. The leaflets feature a pink ribbon symbol and Breakthrough’s registered charity number.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer has said that it does not receive funding from Clothman Ltd.

People who do want to donate unwanted clothing and household items are being advised to take them to a charity shop, where they can be sure the full value of the donations can go towards the charitable cause.

Anyone who receives a leaflet from Clothman Ltd is being asked to report it to Breakthrough Breast Cancer by emailing: [email protected] and Consumer Direct by calling 0845 04 05 06.
