A council is cracking down on those who fraudulently use Blue Badges in order to park their cars in spaces reserved for those with disabilities.
Using stolen or fake Blue Badges, or allowing others to use the badge without the badge holder being in the vehicle, is fraud. Misusing a Blue Badge can lead to a fine of up to £1,000.
Shropshire Blue Badge clamp down
Blue Badges provide a lifeline to 13,500 people with disabilities in Shropshire every year by prioritising parking places close to important services. However badge holders are being disadvantaged by other people who are abusing the system. Shropshire Council is urging people with information about anyone misusing Blue Badges to report them to Shropshire Council by calling 0345 678 9019, or via Shropshire Council’s website.
