Action Fraud is unable to take reports in the following situations, please read the below for advice and guidance.
Stolen Vehicle
Given your response to the previous question please call your local police station. Only the police can show a car as stolen on the Police National Computer and this is essential to try and recover your vehicle
Outside the UK
Action Fraud is not able to take reports of fraud which happened outside the UK to people who were outside the UK at the time of the fraud. If you live outside the UK and the fraud was not carried out from the UK, please contact your local police force. If you are a UK resident who was defrauded whilst abroad, and the fraud was not carried out from the UK, please contact the local police force of the country you were staying in.
Tax Fraud
Tax fraud is not currently reported by Action Fraud. Please report tax fraud to Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) Tax Evasion Hotline on: 0800 788 887.
Scam HMRC call
If you have received a scam HMRC call, voicemail or text message and have not lost any money, please report this to us here.
If you have lost money or have been contacted more than once, then you will need to report to us via our online reporting tool and get a crime reference number. When starting your report again check the ‘no’ box under the question 'Does the crime you are reporting involve benefits, tax or a passport application?'
