Watch out for scam invoices

A number of individuals have received bogus invoices for print and online advertising. [30 December 2010]

Existing customers of ‘Community Care’ have received the invoices from scammers using the Community Care brand, requesting payment for advertising they have taken out. The fake invoices are typically sent by post and include a copy of the advert that they claim is due to appear in Community Care. The letters are later followed up with a telephone call urging payment.

Community Care has confirmed that neither Community Care nor Reed Business Information has any connection with these organisations sending out the invoices. Community Care is advising advertisers and customers to be especially vigilant when being chased for payment.

Spot bogus Community Care payment demands:

  • all Community Care invoices carry the Reed Business Information Limited logo and company details.
  • Reed Business Information Limited does not chase for payment by phone unless there are arrears on the individual’s account.
  • if you are at all unsure about an invoice you have received, contact Community Care on a known phone number.
  • if you have lost money to a scam like this, report it to Action Fraud.

Read more about the bogus Community Care invoices on Community Care’s website.
